About the Program

Sault College

This is a FREE 32 week program in the specialized trade of Parts Technician with Automotive Services Training. This program is funded by the Government of Ontario and will prepare you for work in our community without having to relocate!. You will learn through hands on labs, theory classes, online learning and a work placement. You will be provided with academic upgrading for 8 weeks in Pre-Trades Math, Communications, Computers and Success Strategies. During this time you will receive training and certifications in WHMIS, First Aid, CPR, Forklift and Propane Handling, Working at Heights, Health and Safety, and more. We will provide you with employment readiness skills and help prepare your resume for the work field. There will be 12 weeks of Level 1 training online but in a classroom environment so you can receive additional support during the training. Upon completion of Level 1, you will then be provided with 4 weeks of Automotive Services Training with an experienced teacher. Following your training you will be placed in our community for 8 weeks with an employer. Sault College will set you up with work placement, with an employer in our community, with some wage subsidy. Upon completion of work placement some employers are looking to hire students. That could be YOU! 

Where You Will Work

Sault Ste Marie

Graduates of this program will be qualified to apply for entry-level jobs with the trades industry, specifically Parts Technician. You can apply at car dealerships, whole salers, repair shops, parts distributors, retail stores, custom shops related to heavy duty equipment and small business-self employment. Salaries in these employment opportunities may range from $30,000 to $50,000 or more per year! With further training you can consider an apprenticeship in different specialized automotive service trades.

What You Need to Apply

To be eligible for this program you need :

- Grade 12 or equivalent

- Between the ages of 18 and 29

- Eligible to work in Ontario
